BUFFALO (LGS) — The Buffalo Sabres will officially unveil their new third jersey on September 20th at "Puck Drop 2008" but fans of the team don't have to wait until then to get their first glimpse of the new sweater as the photo that was paraded around the internet earlier this week, shown here on the right, will indeed be the franchise's new third jersey.
According to Buffalo News reporter John Vogl, the new third jersey will feature player numbers on the front shoulder similar to the current primary home and away duds.
The new jersey is an updated version of the franchise's vintage blue sweaters that the team wore prior to the 1996 season and as a third jersey during the memorable 2006-2007 season.
They feature ties at the collar and have had their blue and gold colors matched to the franchise's current color scheme. In additional, the logo and the signature gold stripes have been updated with gray bordering.
The jersey will also contain gray piping going down both sides.
According to a previous release from the Sabres, fans will be able to pre-order the new third jersey at "Puck Drop 2008" when the Sabres hit the ice for their first full practice of the season on Saturday, September 20th. Pre-ordering will take place at kiosks located inside The Sabres Store.
